Student Visas

Noel Hewitt Associates can assist students with their visa applications. Most students come to New Zealand to study and at the conclusion of the course return to their country of origin. Some students at the conclusion of their studies and whilst studying, may be eligible to work in New Zealand on a permanent or temporary basis.

Qualifications obtained in New Zealand are often recognized internationally. Prior to enrolling in any course of study, all potential applicants should determine if the New Zealand academic qualifications are recognized in their home country or choice of countries.

There are a number of educational resources that students can chose from beside the standard university studies. Applicants can attend studies in:

  • Trade Courses
  • Short term courses (over 3 months - special conditions may exist for courses of less than 3 months), and
  • High School/ Student Guardian

As part of the initial assessment offered by Noel Hewitt Associates, we will examine your study choices and advise you of the possibility of obtaining further visas on the completion of your course of study. This advice will be made on the basis of legislation and policy that exists at the time the assessment is made.

There cannot be any guarantee that legislation and policy conditions that exist when a chosen course of study commences will still apply at the conclusion of that course of study.

For some applicants there is no need to obtain a Student Visa in order to study in New Zealand. Other applicants may require their students representative to examination the law and policies and submit the required papers to obtain the Student Visa.

Prior to the submission of any application, it is advised that the student or the students representative determine an applicants status and likelihood of obtaining a visa. Noel Hewitt Associates LLC can provide this advice.

Once the student has obtains a visa, it is possible to request permission to work up to 15 hours per week and during the Christmas break. The student can also get permission to work in their field of study to gain practical experience.

Illegally working, failure to attend courses and not meeting course requirements may result in the cancellation of a visa.

Please note: Noel Hewitt Associates LLC no longer processes New Zealand visa applications. The information on this web site is maintained as a general guide. You should seek professional advise from a New Zealand immigration specialist in the event you wish to apply for a New Zealand visa.
