The Skilled Migration program provides an opportunity for individuals and their families who have certain skills and qualifications to move to New Zealand.
Process:
Applicants must be under 56 years of age, have English language skills, have an employment background and qualifications that the New Zealand government consider necessary for the countries future prosperity. These attributes are rated by points, and the applicant who meets the Skill threshold points criteria may be granted a visa / permit to move and work in New Zealand. The first phase * 'The Self Assessment' can easily be completed by the applicant.
It is at this phase after considering the options, the applicant should consider Noel Hewitt Associates LLC. We will review this for accuracy and identify any negative aspects that will put the application at a disadvantage. There is a standard $55 fee for this service which is deducted from the final fee if you use Noel Hewitt Associates throughout the rest of the visa/permit process.
With a positive assessment that has been reviewed by Noel Hewitt Associates LLC, the next step involves the submission of documentation to the New Zealand Immigration Service. This part of the process involves an applicant or Noel Hewitt Associates LLC submitting an 'expression of interest'.
These applications remain in the New Zealand Immigration 'pool' for 3 months. If the application is not chosen within the 3 month period the application is discarded. Applicants can reapply at a later date. These 'expression of interests' are ranked on points received for each category (i.e. skill, qualifications, English ability etc).
The applicants with the highest point score are considered first and then other applications are examined. Although you may meet the score criteria you may not be chosen in a particular selection process. You may try again without being prejudiced by an earlier rejection. Please note that it is in your interest to submit an accurate 'expression of interest' on the first attempt. Subsequent applications will be closely scrutinized for discrepancies and if the new claim is unsubstantiated the application may result in rejection and possible legal action.
Those individuals considered to meet the New Zealand immigration requirements will be invited to submit an 'application'. It is particularly important in the evidence assessment stage of the process that the applicant has appropriate evidence. Noel Hewitt Associates LLC can assist in identifying the value of the evidence to be submitted. New Zealand Immigration will examine the application to determine if the application meets their criteria and meets their Government Residence Policy. The Government officers will also look at the application to determine if the applying individual will likely adapt to their new environment and make a real contribution to New Zealand's social and economic development.
If the applicant is successful in the application he or she may be issued or granted a Residence visa / permit or a Work visa / permit which will allow the applicant and their immediate family to move to and work in New Zealand.
Applicants who already have skilled employment or have an offer of skilled employment in New Zealand normally receive a high point score and tend to be looked at favorably by the New Zealand government assessors.
Above all, you are strongly advised to obtain a firm job offer from an employer in New Zealand before settling up in your home country. Although it is possible to obtain a Skill visa without an employment offer, it is a very risky practice to sell your assets and leave your known job prospects in your home country and move to a foreign country with no employment offer.
Additional points and favorable treatment of your application will occur where your employment background and qualifications are in demand in locations in New Zealand and you are prepared to move to those locations.
Noel Hewitt Associates LLC no longer processes these classes of visa. Please contact another N.Z. Immigration specialist for advice.
