The New Zealand government welcomes individuals from certain countries having reciprocal arrangements with New Zealand to participant in the governments Working Holiday program. Successful applicants for the Working Holiday program will be granted a permit to work in designated occupations or locations.
Individuals thinking of applying for this permit should seek the advice of Noel Hewitt Associates in order to have reliable advice and representation.
The conditions vary for each country as does the number of persons allowed to obtain a Working visa. Some of the following conditions may apply depending upon the country the applicant comes from.
Some of the conditions are:
- Be a citizen of a designated country.
- Apply for the Working Holiday visa and permit at a New Zealand government office overseas.
- Plan to travel to New Zealand primarily for holiday rather than work.
- Have a valid passport good for three months after you leave New Zealand.
- Have no accompanying children.
- Have either a return ticket or funds to purchase a return ticket.
- Have at least $4,200 available funds to meet your personal needs in New Zealand. This figure may vary.
|
- Have medical and hospital insurance.
- Seek no permanent employment (unless you change to a visa that allows permanent employment).
- Agree that you can work for only 3 months with any one particular employer.
- Be between age 18 to 30 years. This may vary according to the country the applicant comes from.
- Meet the government quota for applicants from any one particular country.
- Understand and comply with the condition that the Working Visa has a validity for 12 months.
The Working Holiday visa is essentially a Work permit. The permit you will get if successful is a 12 months visa (to travel to New Zealand) and a permit (once you arrive) allowing you to work. You do not necessary need specific skills to obtain this work permit.
Noel Hewitt Associates LLC no longer processes these classes of visa.
