Doing Business in New Zealand - Investors, Entrepreneurs

Doing Business in New Zealand

In New Zealand 97% of all business have fewer than 20 employees. For new investors with business background there are reasons why New Zealand is a good place to commence a business or investment:

  • The New Zealand government supports small business. New entrants into the market do not have to bring a 'large business' but can slowly build up their business.
  • the exchange rate is competitive. The requirements for starting a new business when $US and Euros are converted is favorable when purchasing and developing the new businesses.
  • New Zealand is a growing economy. In the last 20 years New Zealand has evolved from a principally rural economy relying on dairy and sheep products exported to Britain to an economy with international markets in not only the traditional exports but now wine, tourism, entertainment, communications, fashion and technology market.
  • The cities and business legislation and environment are similar in style to those found in Australia, the US and Europe. New business and investors will not be commencing business in a totally unfamiliar environment.
  • There is a good supply of both goods and skilled employees that a new business can use in establishing business.
  • The New Zealand government welcomes business development from individuals resettling in New Zealand from overseas. These new businesses bring contacts which assist in international exports.
  • In the last three years New Zealand has experienced a GDP growth of 4.4 percent and is one of the fastest growing economies in the OECD. Inflation and personal taxations are amongst the lowest in the OECD.
